Donald McLeod, Morden, MB (May 29) The brothers Zane and Axel Anderson from Michigan, ND finished one-two in Slingshot action at ALH Motor Speedway on May 29. The little cars allow youngsters to get a taste of grassroots circle track racing and are quite a challenge to drive with their smaller wheels.
The Anderson’s, along with Bailey Cousins of Morden, have mastered these machines somewhat better than the remainder of the field of seven who were in action. Zane took the lead early with Cousins sticking close to him and Axel a bit further behind. Cousins lost a bit of control late in the 10 lap race allowing Axel to get past him for second place.
Aiden Fehr of Winkler, Keenan Glasser of Estevan, SK, Tyler Doell of Carman and Brooke Cousins of Morden rounded out the field.
This was the second time the Slingshots were at the track and they had much better conditions than on opening day. Zane Anderson won the heat with Bailey Cousins second and Axel Anderson third.
