Keith Cumming, Greenbush, Minnesota (August 25) Questionable weather in the area would greet racers and fans as the NLRA Late Models would make their last appearance of the year at the Greenbush Race Park.
Outside polesitter Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Mb., would take the early lead in the 13 car, 25 lap race for the NLRA Late Models. The race was slowed by only two cautions, the last on lap 11, but Balcaen held his lead. But eight laps later, fellow Winnipeg racer Shane Edgington would pass Balcaen coming out of corner two for the lead. Edgington would go on to pick up his first NLRA win at the Park. Balcaen would finish second and win his heat, while a good battle for third and fourth as Bill Mooney of Selkirk, Mb., edged Joey Pederson of East Grand Forks for third. Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D. picked up the other heat win.
