Dha McLeod Morden, MB (June 25) Ryan Johnson of Karlstad, MN was the winner in WISSOTA Street Stock at ALH Motor Speedway while Jesse Teunis of West St. Paul survived a scarry early race wreck. Johnson was among a contingent of American racers who made the journey to ALH after a rainout at Greenbush Race Park the night before.
Mike Olson of Lancaster, MN and Chase Boen of Karlstad, MN were also unable to continue after the crash. The two middle lanes were very slick and Olson went around after getting on the gas coming around turn four. That caused a number of others cars to come together and Teunis appeared to get hit from behind sending him up and over the embankment. He flipped over coming to rest on the wheels on an access road. Track volunteers were on the scene quickly giving the thumbs up to let everyone know Teunis was okay. He actually fired up his number 70 machine though he was going nowhere with both left side wheels damaged.
Art Linert of Badger, MN and James Wall of Winkler also showed damage from the skirmish but were able to continue finishing second and third behind Johnson. Both got by Taylor Jacobson of Roseau, MN who held second for a few laps.
Teunis won the second heat race ahead of Linert and Boen. Johnson won the other heat with Olson second and Wall third. In the pits after the race Teunis was able to fire up his car and drive it onto his hauler after changing those two damaged wheels. He held onto third place in class points standings behind leader Wall and second place Rod Wolfe of Morden.
