Donald McLeod, Morden, MB (August 25) Rob Reese has enjoyed a fine season at ALH Motor Speedway and he wrapped it up by sweeping the 4 Cylinder class on August 25. Meanwhile Mike Peterson from Langcaster, MN made his second visit to the track and like the first time he was here he won the Pure Stock V8 feature. Brett Proctor salvaged something for the regulars in this class by winning the heat race.
This is the closest to stock cars that you get in grassroots dirt track racing. There are very few modifications allowed and they actually look pretty much look like, well, stock cars. The scheduled two day event was cut to one when a late afternoon rain storm cancelled the Saturday show.
With 12 cars in 4 cylinder and 13 in pure stock V8 it was the best turnout of the year for both classes.
In both the heat and feature Reese finished ahead of a Perdonic with Scott second and Bill third in the heat. Then in the feature Bill was second and Scott fourth with Alan Beamish managing to squeeze his Hyundia into third spot. Mark Syvert was fifth in the feature.
In pure stock Proctor finished ahead of Les McRae and Dylan Penner in the heat with Peterson fourth and Rob Penner fifth. Then in the feature Proctor raced well, as he has all season, but settled for third place behind Peterson and McRae. Marv Klassen of Morden had his best finish of the season finishing fourth in his number 445 Pontiac.

Just wondering what Al did with all the money he didn’t return to the drivers and pit crews for the cancelled show on Saturday. Hey Al nice comments made when asked nicely if we would get our money back for the cancelled show on Saturday. I know our family dropped 240 dollars at your track for the 2 day show. QUOTE FROM AL TO MYSELF we don’t need you 4 cylinders cars here go back to Winnipeg and build a real race car like a mwm real classy . When I showed up for the weekend to race I believe I paid the same as the mwm to race. I enjoy racing and I race what I can afford so for you as a track owner and your buddy to stand there and make comments like that in front of people shows very little class. So in the future I will take your advise and save my 240 dollars and keep my piece of shit 4 cylinder at home so I don’t have to deal with people like you. AND YES THOSE COMMENTS DID COME FROM AL THE TRACK OWNER…
Thanks Scott. I’ll let the reporter of this article know.
You got the heat and feature finishing order mixed up in the 4 cyl class.
