Dha McLeod Morden, MB (April 30) Scott Greer in WISSOTA Modified and Austin Hunter in WISSOTA Midwest Modified were winners at the opening race meet of the season at ALH Motor Speedway. It was warm, windy and dry causing a slick dry track and some dust but the action on the track in these two fast classes was highly entertaining.
Corners three and four were a bit tricky with the middle two lanes through those corners very slick. In the Modified feature that caught Ward Imrie and Al Giesbrecht off guard as they both slid high off the track at the start. On the restart Greer, Jerome Guyot and Ryan Cousins got a good jump on the field. Imrie moved up to join those three in a battle for the win throughout the race.
Giesbrecht and Lee McRae got together on the backstretch and both would not finish the race. Meanwhile Ryan Kereluk and James Wall engaged in a battle for fifth place that lasted lap after lap over the final 10 laps of the race. Kereluk had the advantage going into corners one and two while Wall went low through corners three and four to gain the advantage there.
Chris Unrau was running well behind them while Shawn Teunis was having some control problems with his new number 39 machine. He moved up from WISSOTA Street Stock.
Imrie and Greer were heat winners.

Even though there were just 11 cars in the Midwest Modified feature there was plenty of action. Hunter started in the fourth row and slowly made his way to the front to take the lead from Rick Fehr who started on the pole and held the lead in the early going. Grant Hall was also heading to the front from his fifth row starting spot.
Gary Unrau was having a good run but a spin out on the front stretch sent him to the back and he ended up suffering some damage to the 18 car in the later laps. Over the last five laps of the race Cody Wall in the 25 and Murray Kozie in the 55 joined the battle for the win.
Hunter and Wall were heat winners. After his win Wall, as he was leaving the track, pointed skyward with his left hand out the window as if indicating, ‘this win was for you Brad.’
